For many Senior Citizens, the subject of Mental Health and depression is still a taboo area, a topic best avoided. Especially in men, depression is not recognized as a ‘valid” illness, but more of a signal of personal weakness in character, never to be admitted. It is an affront to the qualities cherished by the older generation – quiet strength, dignity, honor and self sufficiency.
