A Personal History of Antidepressants

Depression appears to be one of the most common mental illnesses, affecting nearly 35 million adults in the United States alone. With proper diagnosis and intervention, however it also is one of the most treatable. Although not nearly as severe in the past, unfortunately there still remains some level of stigma attached to seeking treatment for depression. This is perhaps one of the greatest tragedies associated with the occurrence of depression in both children and adults. From personal experience I can attest that antidepressant medication can make a dramatic difference is treating this disease. The challenge however, is in helping
